Simulate a project shift in the portfolio
Published October 14, 2026
“What happens if we push this project back three weeks?” The question comes up in every portfolio review, and answering it used to mean rescheduling the project for real. The global planning now answers it in a few seconds, without changing anything.
Open a project’s action menu and choose Simulate a shift, or simply hold Alt and drag any of its bars: the whole project follows the mouse day by day, a label shows the shift (“+12 d”) and the new dates. The real position stays visible as a hatched ghost, a badge above the bar recalls the shift — one click cancels it — and the toolbar counts the shifted projects, with a cross to reset them all. To shift several projects at once, enter a number of days in front of each one from the Scenario panel.
The resource workload at the bottom of the screen is recalculated as if each project started on its new date: you see at once which overloads the shift creates or resolves. The simulation is personal to each user and to the current favorite; the projects’ schedules are never modified.
